Asia Cup 2018: It is a Great Tournament to Rise-up in ICC Rankings – Sarfraz Ahmed

Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed has admitted that upcoming Asia Cup 2019 at the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is an excellent opportunity to rise in the ICC Rankings.
Meanwhile, Pakistan will start their campaign against Hong Kong on September 17. However, the arch-rivals India Pakistan will clash on September 19 at Dubai International Stadium. This is the first time they will play against each other since the Champions Trophy last year. Pakistan defeated India to lift the trophy for the first time in England.
The Green caps, however, have been in great touch off late and will eye to lift the trophy. They are in Group B with Hong Kong and India. Speaking to International Cricket Council, Sarfraz Ahmed noted that Asia Cup is an excellent opportunity to jump the ladder in the ICC Rankings.
“This tournament is a great chance for us to rise up in the ICC ODI team rankings, especially since the ICC Cricket World Cup is not very far away,” he said.
Sarfraz Ahmed also admitted that Asia Cup would help them to retrospect their performances. He also noted the upcoming tournament will be a new challenge and are looking forward to it.
“Half the teams who will feature in the World Cup are participating in the Asia Cup so it is a great chance for us to see where we stand. We have sweet memories of the ICC Champions Trophy last year but we have new challenges ahead,” Sarfraz added.
Meanwhile, the final of the Asia Cup 2018 will be on September 28 at the Dubai International Stadium.
