Asia Cup 2018: Mohammed Ashraful Reveals his Favourites to Lift the Trophy

Former Bangladesh captain, Mohammed Ashraful has revealed Pakistan as the favourites to lift this edition of the Asia Cup 2018 at the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will play curtain-raiser on September 15 of the premier cricketing event in Asia. All the five Test-playing nations along with Hong Kong, who recently won the qualifier will feature in the tournament.

Mohammad Ashraful mentioned Pakistan as the most strong contender of the tournament. Pakistan have been doing exceedingly well recently and lift the title. The stylish batsman also noted that the Green Caps would have an edge because of the home conditions.

“Every participant of Asia Cup is strong. Anyone can beat any team in their day. But I would say that Pakistan will be the strongest claimant of the tournament. Because UAE is their home venue,” Ashraful said.

They are playing in that condition for a long time now. I think not only for a condition that they are familiar to, Pakistan is a strong contender of Asia Cup for their good cricket too,” Mohammed Ashraful added.

The veteran batsman, however, is also confident about his countries chances. He feels that if Bangladesh can beat Sri Lanka in the opening fixture, they will get the momentum required.

We have played Asia Cup final twice, but could not win even once. I think this time around, we can hope for something big,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, the Asia Cup 2018 final will be on September 28 at the Dubai International Stadium.
