With India having already won the series 2-0 the final T20 of the series at Sydney on 31st January (tomorrow) will be a dead rubber. India will eye for 3-0 series victory to claim the number one position in ICC ranking. India in the last match defeated Australia by 27 runs.
India batting first scored 184 with the help of Rohit Sharma’s 60 and Virat Kohli’s 59. Australia got a good start from their opening pair Shaun Marsh and Aaron Finch but suffered a big collapse. Shaun Marsh was the first batsman to fall on 97. But Australia lost nine wickets for only 63 runs.
After losing the ODI series 4-1, India made a good return in T20 series. A win the last ODI at Sydney boost India’s confidence. A young bowling attack changed the look of the bowling department. Young Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya and spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin helped with the ball while batsmen Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli are firing with the bat. Though the Australian bowling attack is not so good as a result Indian batsmen battered them.
It is unlikely that India will break winning combination for the third T20 or there will be any change in the batting order. There was much talk about Yuvraj Singh’s batting position. MS Dhoni at the press conference said, “ Virat Kohli is batting well. If partnership goes well till 15 to 16th over then It is my time to come in.”
So the chance of watching Yuvraj Singh’s bat might not happen in this series.
With Australian captain Aaron Finch injured and David Warner and Steve Smith left for New Zealand tour Australia will face more difficult situations in Sydney.
Predicted XI: Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni (C) (Wk), Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah and Ashish Nehra.
