Virat Kohli and hundreds have been the synonyms for a while now. However, during the Sydney ODI against Australia, the India National Cricket Team captain got out on three runs. Jhye Richardson, the new-ball bowler, had struck gold in the fourth over of the India innings; getting Virat to play his favourite shot, only to get him caught at the square leg.

Australia Dominates SCG ODI

Ahead of the first game, Virat said the Indian team would need more game practice leading to the 2019 World Cup. Much to their disappointment, the visitors were off to a worst possible start; losing three wickets for four runs inside four overs. Shikhar Dhawan, captain Kohli and Ambati Rayudu, all got out on zero; leaving the Indian fans in complete shock. Though Rohit also played some false shots, he did survive the early scare.

Meanwhile, Australia batted first after winning the toss. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who was playing his first match in over one month got captain Finch early. Carey and Usman Khawaja did score some runs, but the Indian spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav made breakthroughs.

Later, it was Shaun Marsh and Peter Handscomb, who scored the fifties; helping Australia cross the 250-mark and score 288 in 50 overs. Kuldeep and Bhuvneshwar took two wickets each.

Virat fails to get going in Sydney

Post the Windies tour, where the India captain hit a few centuries and also completed his 10,000 runs in ODI cricket; he has been lacking his Midas touch. Even on the Test tour, he had just one hundred in Perth and was not even in India’s top-two highest run-scorers. Cometh the ODI cricket; his form was assumed to get better. However, Richardson didn’t let it happen.

In the fourth over, Virat Kohli went onto play his favourite shot, the flick shot; only to get caught at the square leg. Well, getting out on a score below ten is a rare thing for Virat Kohli, particularly in ODI cricket.
