Australia To Undergo Week-Long Practice Camp Ahead Of Bangladesh Tour

Australia will undergo a week-long camp in Darwin before the current world champions lands in Bangladesh to take on the hosts in the two-match Test series. Earlier in the year as well, they underwent a long camp in Dubai to assimilate to the conditions in India. The results were seen on the field where Australia toppled India in the first Test. Though visitors lost the series by a margin of 2-1; they were the only team who could provide a competition to Indian team talking of the long home season.

Australia will travel to Bangladesh after a period of 13 years as favourites but the recent form of the hosts can haunt any of the opposing sides. They recently trumped Sri Lanka in their 100th Test match in the month of March. Following that, Bangladesh also levelled ODI and T20I series to give strong jitters to Sri Lanka. In Champions Trophy, Bangladesh defeated New Zealand once again and left behind Australia in their group to qualify for the semi-final of Champions trophy.

The current form of Bangladesh has been par their level and they are coming off age and will give a strong competition to Australia on the tour.

Meanwhile, two of the Australia players viz Hilton Cartwright and Ashton gear will have a later camp in the camp due to their commitments with Australia A. They will join the camp on August 12 and will take part in the practice games. Cartwright has made a comeback to the Test side after missing on selection for India tour whereas Agar has emerged as the lone left-arm spinner, who was selected over Steve O’Keefe.

The Australia tour of Bangladesh comprising of two Tests will start from August 27 before both teams face each other in the second test from September 4. Australia was to travel Bangladesh in the year 2015 but they withdrew their arrival citing security reasons. Following that, they did not even send their under-19 side for the Under 19 World Cup played at the start of the year 2016.
