As India has registered their maiden bilateral series win in Australia by sealing the third and final One-day International convincingly by seven wickets. However, MS Dhoni has played a remarkable role for the Men in Blue while returning to a form with a bang. With the historic series culminating on a high for Virat Kohli‘s India, the wishes poured in across the cricketing globe. Indian premier off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin also took to the microblogging website Twitter to hail the efforts of Dhoni and the Men in Blue, in particular.
India was chasing down the target of 231 following a sensational bowling performance by leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. He sealed his career-best figures of six for 42 in his 10-over quota. Dhoni smashed unbeaten 87 off 114 deliveries which further saw him smashing six fours during his composed innings. On the other side, Kedar Jadhav played an anchor role while remaining unbeaten on 61.
Dropped on nought to walk out unbeaten at ‘G’:
With this, the 37-year-old Dhoni slammed three consecutive half-centuries during the series Down Under which further saw two coming in a winning cause. He has become the focal point at the moment for his resurgence. Interestingly, at the ‘G’ Dhoni was dropped on a nought by Glenn Maxwell at the point region on the bowling of Marcus Stoinis.
The Chennai-based spinner Ashwin reiterated veteran Dhoni has made things quite easier often than not. Moreover, Dhoni has been quintessential in his approach. He responded to his critics follow the Sydney game. It’s important to mention that Dhoni was criticized for his slow show after scoring 96-ball 51.
However, there on, he has not only scored runs at pace but walked out unbeaten. With many believing, Dhoni’s finishing abilities are waning; he returned with yet another superb knock before allowing Jadhav to finish off the game in style.
