Australia vs India 2018, 1st T20I – Match Report
It is said that well begun is half job done. However, it wasn’t the case for India. Australia won the first T20I by four runs against India as the match went down to the wire. 13 runs were required off the last over. However, Krunal Pandya and Dinesh Karthik were dismissed in the final over.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to bowl first. Australia raced to 153 in 16.1 overs before the rain intervened. Thus, the score was recalibrated to 174 after Australia managed 158 in the 17 overs.

Brisbane’s local boy Chris Lynn was on song as the combative right-hander took 21 runs off rookie pacer, Khaleel Ahmed in one over. The pugnacious batsman scored a quickfire knock of 37 runs off just 21 balls.

Subsequently, Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell were able to change gears. Stoinis hit the ground running whereas Maxwell took his time in the initial stages. Maxwell catapulted his attack on Krunal Pandya as the southpaw spinner went for 55 runs in his four overs.
In fact, Maxwell and Lynn smacked four sixes each to get the better of Indian bowlers. On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the Indian bowlers as he scalped two wickets. Yadav was able to put a padlock on the Australian batsmen as he gave away only 24 runs in his allotted overs.

Meanwhile, India could get off to an ideal start. The tourists lost their deputy Rohit Sharma for just seven runs. However, Shikhar Dhawan carried his sublime form going as he scored 76 runs off just 42 balls.
Although, India lost two quick wickets to found themselves behind the eight-ball. However, a brisk alliance between Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik brought India right into the contest. Karthik played a fine knock of 30 runs off just 13 balls but could not seal the deal for India.

Dinesh Karthik played delightful shots to get back India into the contest. Karthik and Pant were able to get 25 runs off Andrew Tye’s over helped India make a comeback as Australia was holding the advantage baton till that point.
