Australia vs India 2018: 1st T20I – Twitter Congratulates Australia As They Return to Winning Ways

The opening Twenty20 international fixture between hosts Australia and India witnessed a thrilling finish as the held nerves to bail out the game by four runs at Brisbane.

Meanwhile, Australia posted 158 for 4 in 17 overs, the target for India will be readjusted as per the DLS method. Jasprit Bumrah gave away only 6 runs from the final over. It was some outstanding stuff from one of the best death bowlers in world cricket.

The start was sedate for Australia after Virat Kohli put them to bat first. D’Arcy Short didn’t get going and fell to Khaleel Ahmed in the fifth over. Aaron Finch and Chris Lynn began to break the shackles as they managed to push India onto the back foot. But Kuldeep Yadav strangulated the run-flow with his box of tricks and prised out both Finch and Lynn in his successive overs.

Then it was the Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis’ show, both batsmen went ballistic and Maxwell took a special liking to Krunal Pandya carting him for three sixes in an over.

Then rain interrupted play as the umpires decided to reduce the game to 17 overs. Australia came out to bat for five balls and could manage to muster 5 runs.

Right, the target for India is 174 – a total that will challenge the hosts for sure.

The men in blues started the chase swiftly with Shikhar Dhawan showing his worth in challenging pitches. He single-handedly led the onslaught as the non-strikers failed to provide a hand. Rohit Sharma departed early on while KL Rahul failed to capitalise on the start. He departed on 12 runs from a brilliant Adam Zampa delivery.

However, Dhawan continued to smack the ball as he brought his 9th T20I fifty. But with back to back wickets of Virat Kohli and Dhawan, things started to look bleak for the visitors. But with 24 needed from the last two, the game was evenly poised. Dinesh Karthik was aiming for Nidahas Trophy finish, this time partnering Rishabh Pant.
