Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen believes that Tim Paine and co. will continue sledging Team India in the last Test match in Brisbane even though they had come under scrutiny for using abusive language in Sydney.
After the third Test match was slipping away from Australia‘s hand, Tim Paine was caught on the stump mic abusing Ravichandran Ashwin. The video of the same went viral on social media and netizens criticized him severely. After which, the wicketkeeper-batsman called for a press conference and apologized for his misconduct.
Writing for Betway, Kevin Pietersen, however, doesn’t believe that Tim Paine will stop himself from sledging the visitors while recommended Ajinkya Rahane-led team to get used to the jibe because it is in the DNA of Australians.
“If Tim Paine gets himself into another confrontation in the fourth Test, he will go again – regardless of what he says in between Test matches. It is in his and his team’s DNA, so you have to deal with it,” said Kevin Pietersen.
Australians play in a certain way: Kevin Pietersen
Pietersen opined that the big series witness such confrontations and thus, Australians will again get involved in banter against the visitors.
“There’s always going to be a confrontation in a big series like Australia v India. There have been confrontations in the past, there will be confrontations in the final Test match of the series, and there will be confrontations when the teams meet again in the future. It’s never going to change, particularly when Australia are involved. Australians play in a certain way,” Pietersen added.
Meanwhile, currently, the four-match Test series is levelled with both teams winnings one match each while the third match ending in a draw. The final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which will decide the winner, will start at the Gabba from 15th January.
