Australia vs India – 2nd Test, Day 4: Lunch Report

Morning session on Day 4 completely turned the game towards Australians as the Indians staggering at edge of defeat. Shikhar Dhawan, the overnight batsman is the India’s last hope as he was injured in practice nets before the Day’s play but turned out with India reeling. Indians at the moment, have a lead by 61 runs with 3 wickets in hand.

Virat Kohli joined Overnight batsman Chetheswar Pujara as Shikhar Dhawan faced an injury on old practice nets. However, Kohli too had an injury but turned out to play only for a single run as he dragged on a Johnson’s delivery. Rahane looked with couple of boundaries but a Johnson’s rising delivery got rid of him as he edged into slips. Two balls later, Rohit Sharma was declared out as a short delivery of Johnson went past his bat but actually brushed shoulder which produced the sound. In the next over, Hazlewood trapped Captain MS Dhoni for duck infront of wickets.

Later, Pujara decided to score on along with Ashwin as India crossed the first innings deficient and gained a slight lead. Like Rohit, Ashwin was sclap of wrong decision as he was declared out as the umpire thought there was inside edge which wasn’t actually. Finally Dhawan joined Pujara, who was trying to score as much as possible but Hazlewood ripped of him with short delivery for 43.

Dhawan later played a few shots as Indian lead increased to 60 at end of first session.


India: 157/7 in 47 overs (C Pujara 43, S Dhawan 41*; M Johnson 3/54, M Starc 2/27) & India: 408 all out in 109.4 overs (M Vijay 144; JR Hazlewood 5/68) lead Australia: 505 all out in 109.4 overs (SD Smith 133; UT Yadav 3/101) by 60 runs
