Australia vs Sri Lanka 2019 – Nuwan Pradeep Ruled Out of Australia Tests

Sri Lanka has hit with injury news, as fast bowler, Nuwan Pradeep is ruled out of Australia Tests. Hamstring is learnt to be the cause of concern for the Sri Lankans. Meanwhile, the twitter handle of the cricket board confirmed the news on Sunday. Meanwhile, the two-match Tests will begin on January 23rd at the Gabba, Brisbane. The fast bowler will fly home from Down Under.

Grade 1 strain rules out Pradeep

As reported, a grade 1 strain in his left hamstring has caused all the trouble for Pradeep. The fast bowler suffered the injury while bowling in the practice game against Cricket Australia XI. Though during the match, he tried making a comeback, he failed. Unfortunately, Pradeep had bowled two overs, just to see him undergo scans; and later to miss the forthcoming Tests against Australia.

In the 28 Tests played so far, the right-arm fast bowler has picked 70 wickets; the last of which came against Pakistan in the UAE in 2017. However, the workload concerns had forced the SLC to rest Nuwan Pradeep for the limited-overs tour to India later that year. Meanwhile, in February 2018, Nuwan returned to Sri Lanka’s T20 squad for a tri-series at home.

Australia aims to improve summer numbers

Australia, of late, surrendered the Border-Gavaskar trophy to India (2-1). During the four-match Tests, which concluded on January 7th, the India National Cricket Team created history; winning Tests on the Australian soil for the first time in 71 years. Meanwhile, the hosts would like to improve their numbers against under-performing Sri Lanka team. However, the second Test of the two-match series will start on January 31st in Canberra.
