Upbeat Australia rested Josh Hazlewood for rest of the series and retained John Hasting for the remaining ODI series against India. The third ODI of the series set to place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday.
Hastings steps in for fellow seam bowler Josh Hazlewood who has been given a break for the remainder of the home international season.
Commenting on the decision, Australia’s head coach Darren Lehmann said: “Josh has played all six Tests this summer and has had a high workload.
“On that basis, the decision has been made to give him a break to allow him to recharge both physically and mentally ahead of the tour of New Zealand.
“We regard it as sensible management of the player and it is an approach that we have adopted successfully in Australian cricket over a significant period of time, especially in the one-day format.”
The Australian squad for the final two matches of the series will be announced after the match in Melbourne.
Australia is currently leading the series 2-0 as they chased down record 300 plus score in the last two ODIs.
In the last ODI at Brisbane Australian bowler made a good comeback in the match after Rohit Sharma’ 124 run innings comes to an end. In the last eight over of India’s innings Australian bowlers have conceded only 53 runs and took five wickets.
The death over bowling restricted India for 308, which is widely believed that at least 30 runs short of India’s total.
Australia batsmen easily chased down the total in 40 overs. Openers Shaun Marsh and Aaron Finch scored 71 each and middle order batsman George Baily scored 76.
