Aaron Finch is aiming for a Test return and has said that he has ‘one good crack’ left to be back in the Test team again. Finch had made his Test debut against Pakistan in UAE last year in the absence of Cameron Bancroft, David Warner and Steve Smith.

He started his Test career with a 62 and 49 but only managed one half-century thereon. Finch was dropped for the final Test against India, where Usman Khawaja opened the innings. He did not make the cut for Sri Lanka Tests and Ashes 2019.
“For me personally, it’s about probably having one really good crack at trying to get back to the Test team again. The young guys who came in and did well throughout the back half of last summer did a really good job. I still think that I’ve got one really good crack at it left in me,” Finch told SEN radio station.
Finch’s chances of a Test comeback are still alive and running with the Australian openers, including David Warner, putting up an abysmal show during Ashes 2019. Cameron Bancroft, who was given first preference with Warner, was dropped after two Tests.
Warner himself struggled during the series and scored just 95 runs. Although he played all five Tests. Marcus Harris, the third opener on the tour, scored 58 runs in three Tests
For the upcoming series against Pakistan, only Warner seems to be an automatic selection. The likes of Harris and Bancroft could face the axe.
Australia have options in the form of Joe Burns and Will Pucovski, who could be asked to open. Both were part of the Test squad for home series against Sri Lanka series earlier this year.
Finch will have his opportunity to present his case for a Test comeback when he plays Sheffield Shield ahead of the Test series against Pakistan. Performances in the first-class tournament can see him make his comeback to the Test side.
