Pakistan top-order batsman Azhar Ali has swapped places with his veteran countryman Younis Khan to become the highest ranked Pakistani batsman in the latest list for Test Rankings released on Friday.

The 32-year-old has climbed to the 8th position on the table with the help fo his century in the opening Test. He currently has 748 points and leads South Africa’s Hashim Amla, who sits at the 9th position and India’s KL Rahul, who is at the 10 position. Younis Khan, on the other hand, is going through a bad phase, having scored just single digit scores in three out of the 4 innings so far in the ongoing Test series against West Indies in the Caribbeans.

With the IPL currently going on, Pakistan and West Indies are the only two teams involved in Test action. The ongoing series will be the last for Misbah ul Haq and Younis Khan. While Misbah has got some runs in his final test series which is currently tied 1-1, Younis seems to be struggling to finish on a high.

The rest of the names in the batsmen ranking have retained their positions. The top four is occupied the new ‘Fab Four’ of modern day Test cricket – Steve Smith, Kane Williamson, Joe Root and Virat Kohli. The Australian skipper sits atop of others at No. 1 and is followed by the rest of his three rivals in the same order as mentioned above. Amusingly enough, all these four men also are the Test skipper of their respective countries well.

India’s new ‘wall; Cheteshwar Pujara takes up the 5th position while South Africa’s batting hope Quinton de Kock follows him at No.6. Australia’s vice-captain David Warner, who had a silent series against India, has also maintained his 7th place.

The bowlers ranking also hasn’t seen any drastic changes and remains the same. The Indian spinning duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin safely hold the top two positions respectively. Australia’s fast bowler Josh Hazlewood, Sri Lanka’s Rangana Herath and England bowling veteran James Anderson sit at the 3rd, 4th and 5th
