VB Thiruvallur Veerans got to the best start they could imagine in their opening match against Karaikudi Kaalai in the maiden India Cements TN Premier League match as they notch up an impressive five wicket win.

Playing at Dindugal and chasing 166 in 20 overs on a tricky wicket, Veerans batsman Baba Aparjith has impressed with his fine outing as he scored a massive 118 to guide his team to victory.

Aparajith have scored his fifty in just 34 balls but then accelerated with fine shots as he brought up his maiden T20 century in TNPL in another 23 balls after his fifty. The 22-year old who is one of the most promising talents in the state have hit back to back sixes when he is on 88 to bring up his hundred.

Malolan Rangarajan has also played his part in sticking the innings together with Aparajith as Veerans cruised to an impressive victory over Karaikudi Kaalai. Veerans were in deep trouble when they lost three wickets early in the chase but the pair have helped Veerans to clinch their maiden victory with their impressive showing.

For Karaikudi Kaalai, M.Vijay Kumar played the role of the aggressor despite having Anirudha at the other end. Meanwhile Anirudha preferred to rotate the strike before being caught LBW to end his innings. R. Srinivasan and Vijay Kumar have led the charge as they managed to put up a decent 69-run partnership which helped Karaikudi to post a good 166 run target on a tricky wicket.

Srinivasan scored his maiden 50 in TNPL while his partner M. Vijay Kumar have went on to score 43 runs. Raj Kumar have played some terrific shots to increase the pace of scoring as he scored 34 from just 13 balls towards the end of the innings. The team has managed to score a massive 43 runs in the last 20 balls as they a total of 165 in their 20 overs.
