Pakistan’s talented batsman Babar Azam has attained the career-best ranking of six in the latest update of the ICC Test rankings. Azam who scored 262 runs in the three innings against Sri Lanka now has 767 rating points under his belt. The flamboyant batsman scored his runs at a stunning average of 262 as he batted at the top of his game in historical Test series. Azam scored 60 and unbeaten knock of 100 in the second Test, which Pakistan won 263 runs to clinch the series 1-0.
Subsequently, Ajinkya Rahane, David Warner and Joe Root slipped by one place in the rankings to take seventh, eighth and ninth place in the rankings respectively. Meanwhile, Ross Taylor who scored 80 and 22 in the first Test against Australia makes the cut into the top 10 batsmen in the ICC Test rankings.
Kohli stays at the top.
On the other hand, Indian skipper Virat Kohli is at the numero uno position with 928 rating points under his belt. Indian openers Mayank Agarwal and Rohit Sharma stayed at the 12th and 15th place respectively in the rankings.
Meanwhile, Australia’s gun pacer Pat Cummins who is currently the leading wicket-taker in 2019 is at the number one position in the ICC Test rankings. Pakistan’s pacer Mohammed Abbas has risen to the number 15th place in the rankings. Abbas took five wickets in the second Test match.
Pakistan’s middle-order batsman Asad Shafiq who impressed on the tour of Australia is at the 20th place in the ICC Test batting rankings. Pakistan skipper Azhar Ali takes the 26th position in the rankings table.
Steven Smith, Kane Williamson, Cheteshwar Pujara and Marnus Labuschagne takes the second, third, fourth and fifth position respectively in the rankings ladder. India’s gun paceman Jasprit Bumrah is the sole Indian bowler in the top 10 bowlers and occupies the sixth place.
