Ravichandran Ashwin has lauded Babar Azam’s batting and labelled him as the million-dollar player. Recently, the Pakistan cricketer took Karachi King (KK) to victory in the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) 2020 grand finale against Lahore Qalandars.
While having a discussion with Inzamam-ul-Haq on his YouTube channel, India’s veteran spinner stated that watching Babar Azam is a treat to the eyes. He was especially impressed with his century in Australia.
Further, he also asked the former Pakistan captain to keep his opinion on the current captain.
“Babar Azam looks like a million-dollar player. He has scored a hundred in Australia. It is so good to see him bat so well. He is a treat for the eyes. What do you think about Babar Azam?” Ashwin asked.
Babar Azam is yet to reach his peak: Inzamam-ul-Haq
Inzamam-ul-Haq also admitted that Babar is a great player, but he believes that the right-hand batsman is yet to show his best in international cricket. He is dazzled that the 25-year-old has reached a peak in such a short span but wants him to come much better in coming years.
“He is simply a great player. The kind of talent he has, he needs to perform even better. He has only played international cricket for five years. A batsman reaches his peak after playing international cricket for seven or eight years, so Babar is yet to reach his peak and he will do even better in coming years,” Inzamam said in a response.
Babar Azam is compared with the likes of Virat Kohli, Joe Root and Kane Williamson for his batting prowess. He has so far played 77 ODIs, 29 Tests and 44 T20Is, scoring 3580, 2045 and 1681 runs respectively. He is set to lead Pakistan in the upcoming tour against New Zealand which includes three T20Is and two Tests.
