Babar Azam underwent his first Covid-19 test at the National High-Performance Centre yesterday ahead of the upcoming Africa tour. The Pakistan captain was advised by PCB to stay at home and avoid meeting the general public as he is expected to join the bio-secure bubble tomorrow at the PCB headquarters ahead of the African tour.
Babar Azam Didn’t Heed To Advise To Stay At Home And Avoid Meeting Public
After the aforementioned meeting, Babar Azam didn’t address the media and went to his car. He quickly reversed the car and nearly escaped hitting another car on the way. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Team under the leadership of Babar Azam will shortly embark on the tour of Africa.
They will first travel to South Africa where they will lock horns with the Proteas in three One-day Internationals and four Twenty20 Internationals. The ODI and T20I series will be held at the SuperSport Park in Centurion and at the Wanderers in Johannesburg between April 02-16.
Pakistan Will Play 3 ODIs And 2 T20Is In South Africa Before Embarking On Zimbabwe Tour
Pakistan will take part in three one-day internationals in South Africa, starting in Centurion on April 2. The other two matches are in Johannesburg (April 4) and Centurion (April 7).
The teams will also play four Twenty20 internationals after the ODI series. Following that, Pakistan travels north for two Tests and three Twenty20 internationals in Zimbabwe.
Pakistan had earlier completed a clean sweep 3-0 in T20Is over Zimbabwe when Zimbabwe toured the Asian country in October-November 2020. Babar Azam and Brendon Taylor were leading run-scorers both scoring in excess of 200 in ODIs which Pakistan won 2-1. In T20Is too, Babar Azam was the leading scorer. Usman Qadir picked most wickets in T20I while Blessing Muzarabani was the leading wicket-taker in ODIs.
South Africa had also toured Pakistan to play 2 Tests and 3 T20Is in February 2021. Pakistan won both Tests while winning the 1st and 3rd T20Is to win the series 2-1. Aiden Markram was the leading scorer in the Tests while Mohammad Rizwan was the leading scorer in T20Is. Hasan Ali was the leading wicket-taker in Tests while Tabraiz Shamsi and Dwayne Pretorious picked 6 scalps each to top bowling charts in T20Is.
