In a shameful incident by the fans of Bangladeshi cricket team, famous Indian cricket fan Sudhir Gautham has claimed that he was attacked by Bangladesh fans in Dhaka after India’s loss in the second one-day international on Sunday. Sudhir is a Sachin Tendulkar fan who is the most visible Indian cricket fan in stadiums around the world. He travels to all the venues where India plays and has his body painted with the tri-colour with his hairstyle resembling the Indian map.
At the end of second ODI, when he was coming out of the Sher-E-Bangla National Stadium, the Bangladeshi fans mobbed him, broke his Tri-Colour flag and hurled stones at the vehicle in which he was travelling. Fortunately, the policemen came to his rescue and he escaped without getting hurt.
While speaking to cricketnext.com, Sudhir said As soon as I left the stadium, people mobbed me and started snatching the Tricolour, breaking the handle of the flag. Two policemen who were outside the stadium came to my rescue and they escorted me to an auto-rickshaw. But the mob further attacked the auto and tried to break into it. They even hurled stones on the vehicle but luckily the auto was covered completely and I didn’t get hurt.
According to some Bangladeshi fans, Sudhir was attacked in order to take revenge for their team’s loss against India in the 2015 ICC World Cup quarter-final. Now the question is whether the Bangladesh Cricket Board take actions against the fans who disrespect the rival fanscoming to stadium to watch the match.
