Christ Gayle, undoubtedly the most destructive batsmen in the history of IPL tops the list of players with highest batting average in IPL. He averages 47.50 in 68 IPL matches he has featured in so far. He has consistently scored runs RCB and given them a brilliant start each time, one of the most important in a T20 match. He is a one man army and his highest score of 175* in a match is example of that.

2nd and 3rd on the list are batsmen from South Africa and Australian playing for Kings XI Punjab team – David Miller and Shaun Marsh respectively. While Miller averages 46.90, Marsh has an average of 43.84. Kings XI teams hugely dependent on these two players and now we know the reason why! These two have guided the team through many chases and many huge ones as well, because when these two get going, no total is big enough for them.

On 4th position we have the lone Indian in this list and he is none other than captain cool MS Dhoni. He has an average of 40.86 for CSK. Dhoni has single handedly held the middle order of the Chennai Super Kings batting. He keeps his position flexible and comes in to bat whenever he feels his team needs him in the ground. One thing that Dhoni is yet to achieve in T20 cricket is a century as his highest score in IPL is 70 not out.

Other overseas batsmen to make it to the list are Micheal Hussey, Steve Smith, JP Duminy, Kevin Pietersen, Matthew Hayden, Andrew Symonds and Shane Watson. This makes it 6 Australian batsmen to make it to the Top 10 list, whereas just a lone Indians.

We do have players like Suresh Raina and Suryakumar Yadav closely behind these players and we would definitely expect some of them to make it to the list and next time we have lot more to talk about the Indians.
