Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have requested Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), to reconsider venues for the upcoming Bangladesh-Afghanistan series that will take place in India.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh will play a three-match One-day Internationa series against Afghanistan in Dehradun in June.
However, Bangladesh, who will play full series against Windies following that, is looking for a venue that’s comfortable for travelling.
According to BCB’s President Nazmul Hasan, the Board prefers to play the series in Bangalore or Kolkata.
“We told them (BCCI) to reconsider the venue location so that it is convenient for our players,’ Nazmul said.
“As we will tour West Indies for a full tour after the Afghanistan series It would be better for players if the venue is convenient for travelling,” he maintained.
“Dehradun is fine but we are looking for a convenient venue and it would be better if the series can be held in Kolkata or Bangalore. Obviously, we are in talks and I am sure BCCI will help us in this matter,” he added.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan who recently earned the Test status will play their first Test against India. The match will be beginning from June 14. However, the BCB officials are looking at dates before that match for 50-over leg.
As per BCB, Afghanistan wanted to host Bangladesh in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) but subsequently failed in doing so. As a result, they have considered the option of India, where they have played before.
Moreover, BCCI had already permitted the use of Shahid Vijay Singh Pathik Sports complex in Noida as the home ground of Afghanistan in 2015-16.
It’s further expected to be an exciting contest between both the teams while having the pool of talented players in the camp.
