The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) announced a monetary reward of INR 21 lakhs to the Indian Women’s cricket team for winning the home series over New Zealand Women’s cricket team 3-2.
BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya praised Indian women team for their outstanding performance. He, in particular, praised captain Mithali Raj, who crossed 5000 runs in this series, for leading the team to the victory.
“Congratulation to our skipper Mithali Raj on leading the team with distinction and registering a series win against the New Zealand. Team has shown remarkable character to come back from 1-2 to win the series.”
In a BCCI press release, published in their website, secretary Anurag Thakur also showered accolades on women cricket team.
“This five-match ODI series proved to be competitive and was a wonderful showcase for the skill and class of women’s cricket. It augurs well for the future. I would also wish to congratulate Mithali for reaching yet another milestone in her illustrious career of crossing 5000 runs. Well done once again for a stellar performance,” he added.
This is India Women’s first series victory in one year. India in last August, touring England lost the series, and at home before losing the ODI series to South Africa Women won the one-off Test.
