BCCI Appoint Ratnakar Shetty, Santosh Ragnekar As Observers For Hyderabad Test

Ahead of the One-off Test against Bangladesh, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has named Ratnakar Shetty as the observer for the Hyderabad Test, which will be played at the Rajiv Gandhi stadium between February 9 and 13.

The Hyderabad High Court’s decision came after election results for the recognized body of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) were withheld following the Apex body-led orders.

“In compliance with the order dated 06.02.2017 passed in WP(PIL)M.P. No.30 of 2017 in WP(PIL) No.16 of 2017 by the Hyderabad Court and further on approval received by the Committee of Administrators of the BCCI, BCCI has appointed Ratnakar Shetty to supervise and monitor arrangements being made by the HCA,” BCCI statement said.

Shetty, who is bound to supervise arrangements made by the HCA, is the general manager for game development in the board.

Santosh Rangnekar, who is also the chief financial officer in the cricket board, has been announced as the financial advisor to take care of the expenditure records during the India-Bangladesh Test match.

“Santosh Rangnekar as financial advisor to ensure proper maintenance of records in relation to income and expenditure for the Test match,” it added.

On September 14, 2014, the executive body of the HCA was elected for two years.

It has been revealed the body can conduct the match while depositing the amount in the official HCA bank account. The body can spend the money after the written permission of the announced observers, according to the High Court.

As the major overhauling has taken place in the cricket governing body to implement the Lodha Committee reforms, the Supreme Court last week announced the Committee of Administrators on interim basis to look after the matter before providing a full fledged report.

However, the former Comptroller and Auditor General of India Vinod Rai will head the four-member committee of the BCCI.

Last month, Anurag Thakur was sacked as the BCCI president followed by its secretary Ajay Shirke for becoming an obstruction in implementing the Lodha recommendations.

The HCA members resigned in the recent past before the interim body was setup which has no recognition in the body.

Earlier, the HCA authorities in a letter written to board expressed about the lack of funds in the state-led cricket body.
