Former South African batsman Herschelle Gibbs has heaped praise on the conditions which have been offered to his team. The pitches have been sporting for the first two Test matches and it has been fair play. In fact, it is often noted the home teams take undue advantage of their own conditions.
Meanwhile, when South Africa had toured in 2015, all the Indian pitches were rank turners and the visiting team had also complained about the same. However, in this ongoing tour, the pitches have been up to the mark and it has been an even battle between bat and ball.
The pitch for the first Test match at Visakhapatnam was on the slower side but it provided assistance for both batsmen and bowlers. The track for the Pune Test had assistance for the fast bowlers and then provided help for the spinners as the match wore on. Hence, India has outbowled South Africa in both the spin and pace department.

On the other hand, Gibbs believes that the Ranchi track will provide help for the spinners. Thus, India has got three spinners in their side whereas South Africa has put their trust in the pace battery as they are playing with three pacers.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli once again won the toss and decided to bat first. The visitors have got off to a good start as they have taken India’s three early wickets. The guests have also got the big fish, Virat Kohli. India is currently at 64-3 and Rabada has taken two wickets.
Herschelle Gibbs took to his Twitter account to share his thoughts on the pitches. The post read as, “@BCCI have been very hospitable with conditions this whole test series. This wicket looks like it will turn a bit more than the previous two. #INDvSA”.
