The stylish southpaw showed his blitz in the world cup as well. He always went for his strokes for the team, which made him achieve success. The flamboyant batsman showed his class in the tournament but the failure of other batsman saw the downfall of the team. Though he got Fernando at the later stages, it was all over till then for Sri Lanka.

In this World Cup, after scoring a solid 78 against Afghanistan, Perera played a cameo against Australia when he slammed 52 off 36 balls. He made 64 off 51 balls against West Indies too.
