Cricket lovers and enthusiasts have been completely spellbound by this edition of the Indian Premier League. The tournament so far has been wide open, and even after 1/3rd of the tournament is done, the last positioned team still can make it to the playoffs. As a whole, this IPL has left a really memorable impression in the minds of the viewers. The Punjab – Rajasthan super over clash simply stole the show.

But when we speak about stealing the show, a few players have entertained the viewers big time and played with refinement. In this article, we mention the best XI of IPL 8 so far –

1. AJINKYA RAHANE:

Rahane has been the spine of the Royals’ batting. He has been at his very best so far and there are no second thoughts regarding that. The most impressive part about Rahane has been that he has mounted up the runs without the slogs or any miss-hits. His batting has been a display of untainted class and elegance. The shy Mumbai lad also tops the run charts and holds the Orange cap with 323 runs.

2. DAVID WARNER:

This Australian’s dream run has spread its wings even in the IPL. Warner, fresh from a World Cup win has led the Sunrisers Hyderabad by example. Warner’s partnership at the top with Indian star Shikhar Dhawan has been the strength of the Sunrisers. Warner already has notched up three half centuries including an innings of 91. His form will be really crucial for the Sunrisers’ chances.

3. SHREYAS IYER:

This 20 year old Mumbaikar has been the find of this IPL. Opening for the Delhi Daredevils has given Iyer the best opportunity to express himself. Iyer was paid a whopping amount for an uncapped player in the auctions and it attracted a lot of attention. But he has repaid the faith installed in him completely. Iyer has batted so far with maturity and like Rahane, he too keeps it simple and authentic. With 227 runs so far, he has been the youngest star of this IPL.

4. JP DUMINY:

The Daredevils skipper has not just piled up the runs with the bat. But, his bowling has done wonders for his side as well. Duminy, batting at number 3 has been the pillar for the Delhi side. The team often revolves around him and his contribution defines the team’s success. Along with having 207 runs, this South African also has 7 wickets. A true all rounder indeed!

5. ROHIT SHARMA:

Sharma commenced the IPL in grand style by notching up 98 runs in the very first outing. This was though followed by two ducks but his return to form was quick. He made a massive sacrifice for the team cause by dropping down to number 4 from his initial opening slot. Sharma has 220 runs to his name, but the best part has been his strike rate. If he strikes gold in the middle order, then the Mumbai Indians can still make it to the playoffs.

6. MS DHONI:

Dhoni would be nowhere near satisfied by his performances in this IPL so far.  The only reason behind Dhoni making it to this list has been that the other Indian wicketkeepers have been worse. But with MS Dhoni, his poor form is not prolonged. One can expect the Indian captain to bounce back in style. Who knows, the playoffs may well be his stage?

7. KIERON POLLARD:

Pollard’s team might be at the bottom of the table, but his form with the bat has been superb. Pollard has been at his destructive best so far. The Royals and the Super Kings were treated with utter brutality by Pollard. Another reason behind having him in this elite list is that Pollard alone can change the game within the span of a few balls. He can still ensure that his side crosses the playoffs by performing emphatically.

8. HARBHAJAN SINGH:

The Turbanator has sent a thumping message to the Indian selectors with his brilliant performances so far! Harbhajan has been bowling like the glorious old days, when he was a terror for the batsmen. He is tossing it up and varying his pace well. Bhajji, is no longer afraid to flight the ball and that has already reaped him several rewards. Singh’s batting though has been an added bonus. Against the Kings XI, he played one of the most entertaining knocks in IPL history.

9. SANDEEP SHARMA:

We have another Sharma in this privileged list! Sandeep has been pivotal for the Kings XI Punjab and his control with the new ball has been his strength. The 21 year old Punjab pacer has troubled reputed names with complete ease. Apart from getting wickets frequently, Sharma has also been miserly. This has surely boosted the Kings XI big time.

10. ASHISH NEHRA:

“Nehra JI” has been the topic of discussion on Twitter. Nehra at the moment is like red wine, getting better with age! The way Nehra is bowling right now, many pacers in their mid 20’s would be challenged by this 36 year old’s guile and accuracy. Nehra has struck with the new ball for the Super Kings and captain Dhoni has completely trusted him. His inswingers to the right handers have been lethal.

11. IMRAN TAHIR:

The man with the epic celebratory run is the proud owner of the coveted purple cap. Tahir has spun a web around the confused batsmen. His disciplined bowling and key partnership with fellow leggie Amit Mishra has been Delhi’s main bowling prowess. Tahir has flummoxed the batsmen with his variations like the googly and the top spinner. One expects this South African to continue his good show for the Daredevils. After all, everyone loves his celebratory run!
