Last year, since the start of the home season—the major Indian players have been in and out of the team because of Injury. Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who suffered from back injury went under surgery. Hopefully, he will soon come back to the Indian team as he is set to feature in the 2020 DY Patil T20 tournament, which kicked off on Monday (24th February). This tournament will surely help him to set the tone as he was out of action for five to six months. Not only he will be seen in the event but also Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shikhar Dhawan will participate in this competition.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shikhar Dhawan back on track:
Bhuvneshwar’s injury had brought the National Cricket Academy (NCA) under criticism. He was back and again injured. The pacer struggled with a sports hernia and finally, went for surgery.
Now, his participation in the DY Patil T20 tournament has raised his chances to return to international cricket.
Indian opener Dhawan was also in and out of the team because of injury. He had also joined Bhuvi in Bengaluru’s NCA for recovery. Both the Indian teammates will play for Reliance 1 alongside Pandya in the upcoming tournament.
“The Reliance 1 (team) would be represented by players like Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Shikhar Dhawan,” said Dr. Vijay Patil, President, D.Y. Patil Sports Academy and Mumbai Cricket Association at a press meet.
The likes of Shivam Dubey, Manish Pandey, Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson will take the field as well. Mumbai’s Suryakumar Yadav will also get a chance to come in limelight.
While the other youngsters that will be playing are pacer Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Varun Aaron and batter Manan Vohra. India U19 opener Divyanshu Saxena will play for the BPCL unit.
DY Patil T20 tournament finals on 6th March:
In the 16th edition of the contest, a total of 16 teams will lock horns in the event. The final will be played on March 6.
Further, South Africa will tour India to play three-match ODI series which will begin from 12th March. Thus, cricketers would like to give their best in the tournament to mark their comeback.
