Bhuvneshwar Kumar is suffering from sport’s hernia which has led his ouster from India’s squad for the next home series. His injury is a worrying factor for the Indian team who is preparing for winning the T20 World Cup 2020.

NCA could not correctly detect the player’s injury which delayed his time of recovery. After the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, he has not been regular in the Indian team. He resurfaced from the old injury in the home T20I series against West Indies, following this he had been ruled out ahead of the ODI series.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar on recovery

Bhuvneshwar talked about his injury recovery. He is not sure whether he will have to go for surgery. He added that he would have to consult to doctor to take further steps.

“There is no surety of surgery, but generally, the standard procedure in case of sports hernia is surgery. But we still need to make an appointment and I am not sure where it’s going to be. But we are trying to get it as soon as possible.

“Till I consult a doctor, can’t say when will be the comeback as it will depend on the diagnosis and treatment plan.”

On T20 World Cup Selection

If the pacer goes under surgery, he may miss the T20 World Cup 2020. He will lose his place to the likes of young and talented pacer Deepak Chahar. But Bhuvneshwar doesn’t want to take the burden of his selection. He just wants to recover and do his best job for the team.

“Injuries can be frustrating at times but I am not at all heartbroken. It’s part and parcel of our journey. I was in good rhythm against the West Indies.”

“World T20 is still good nine months away. I am not thinking about that. The first thing is getting fit and I don’t know when I will get fit,” Bhuvneshwar told PTI in an exclusive interview.

“When I get fit it will be about performing. So I am not thinking about who all will be there. Thinking about selection is not in my hands and it’s not my job also. My job is to perform and I will do that,” his answer was a matter of fact.
