Former Australian speed star Brett Lee was full praise for former Indian bowling spearhead Zaheer Khan as he ushered praise on his pace and his skill to swing the ball to great effect against an opposition.
“He is a genius. He swung the new ball, changed his pace, bowled cutters and then possessed great skills to reverse. That’s why he was successful in these conditions,” said Lee about his former Indian bowler.
Zaheer Khan was a true legend as he helped India to win the 2011 World Cup and to became the No. 1 in 2009 ICC Test ranking.
He spearheaded the bowling attack of India for many years since his debut in 2000 ICC Knockout tournament. His tremendous pace and swing both with old and new balls made him an all-time great of Indian bowling.
What he did for India only a few bowler did.
Zaheer’s career spanned for 15 years. He took 610 wickets in 309 matches in all three formats combined. Currently, he is plying his trade in IPL for Delhi Daredevils as a captain of the side.
In 2008, Zaheer, for his great bowling in Test and ODI, received the award of Cricketer of the Year from Wisden. The Indian government in 2011 conferred the Arjuna Award on this legendary World Cup winning bowler.
The left-handed bowler bid adieu the game in October 2015.
