CA CEO James Sutherland To Stay Away From Pay Dispute

Cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland has decided to stay away from the ongoing pay dispute between the board and the Australian Cricketers’ Association (ACA). Sutherland returned to the office last week when the players were left unemployed after June 30, due to the expiry of the contract which lasted until the end of the last month.
Australian cricketers have already decided to boycott the upcoming series against South Africa and Test series against Bangladesh unless a new MOU is signed and they are offered contracts. (Read Here: Six Months Ban On Players For Playing Unsanctioned Leagues)
CA and ACA had staged quite a few meetings to sort out the issue but none of the proposal made by the board came good to the association and no progress was made on the matter. It was Sutherland who took a strong stand against it and straightaway sent an e-mail to players in which he clearly mentioned that the cricketers will be left unemployed if they do not comply with the proposal made by the board.
A non-compliance with the current proposal saw Australian players unemployed. Around 230 cricketers were affected by this, though the board decided to provide all the facilities to the women’s cricket team which is currently playing Women’s World Cup in England. Men’s cricket though has taken a clear stand and if this continues, then it can also mar some clouds over Ashes as well. Though the board and the association are expected to sort out the issue as in no case, neither the players nor the board would like England to take away the Ashes urn from them.
Meanwhile, Australian players met on Saturday last week to discuss the pay dispute.
