The 4th edition of Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) kicked off today as Kollywood representative’s Chennai Rhinos took on the star-studded Bollywood force of Mumbai Heroes in what was a very fun-filled evening for everyone.
Mumbai Heroes captained by Sunil Shetty, won the toss and elected to bat first against the Chennai Rhinos captained by actor Vishal Krishna. The Mumbai team which also includes other big names like Bobby Deol, Shabir Ahluwalia, Angad Bedi, Apoorva Lakhia, Varun Badola, Aftab Shivdasani along with many more put up a very decent display with the bat posting a total of 164/5 in their allotted 20 overs.
In what seemed like a stiff task for the Chennai Rhinos, chasing down at over 8 runs per over, thanks to a very quick outfield and some wonderful batting by their batsman, the Rhinos were in the chase from the very beginning scoring at a brisk pace.
It was a nail biting finish but the Chennai Rhinos edged past the Mumbai Heroes with a ball to spare, winning it in 19.5 over ending with a score of 167-4, eventually winning the match by 6 wickets.
Actor and Vice-captain of the team Vikranth, who also opened the innings for Chennai, won the Bright cricketer award. Actor Sharan won the Man of the Match award in a prize distribution ceremony which was graced by Salman Khan, Sohail Khan and also by Tollywood actress, brand ambassador for Chennai Rhinos, Trisha Krishnan.
