Chris Gayle slams selectors for axing Bravo, Pollard from World Cup 2015 Squad

Shashi / 12 January 2015

Chris Gayle scored a devastating 90 runs off 41 balls in the 2nd T20 International against South Africa on Sunday in Johannesburg. The Caribbean then turned his bat against team selectors back home, lashing out at their decision to reject Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo for the International Cricket Council World Cup 2015.  The Jamaican team to be led by the Jason Holder who is inexperienced and just 23 years old. Chris Gayle the barbarian batsman is satisfied with the decision of rejecting ODI specialists Pollard and Bravo.

Chris Gayle was quoted at the post-match press conference at Johannesburg saying: “How can those two guys not be in the team? To me it got to be like victimization when you look at it towards those two guys. Come on, guys. It is just ridiculous. Come on. Ridiculous. Really hurt. Ridiculous. Honestly, it throw me off.”

The exclusion of the two prominent players has made Chris Gayle the most experienced man in the Jamaican team. Though Chris however feels his team is not in full strength.

He added that they do not have their strongest team without Pollard, nor Bravo. So that is actually sad for them. He also said that it is really a big decision for them to actually lose two key players, two game changing all-rounders as well, very good in the outfield. He does not know what the history behind it, but it is a crazy selection from his point of view.

While Pollard has played 91 One Day Internationals, Dwayne Bravo has played in 164 matches for Caribbean team. Both players have the right potential to play the World Cup which is knocking at the door but have had their share of rifts with West Indies Cricket Board.

Dwayne Bravo led the fight against the West Indies Board and shot out many letters voicing players’ concerns. A less experienced Jason Holder was brought in.
