Afghanistan notched up a five-run victory in a thrilling Twenty  20 clash on Friday, after their historic ODI series  win a few days ago in UAE, Afghanistan’s adopted home for cricket matches.

Afghanistan batting first scored 188 with the help of Mohammad Shahzad, Usman Ghani and Gulbadin Naib who scored 33, 42 and 37 respectively.

Zimbabwe fell just five runs short of their target, when Luke Jongwe, needing a six to win, was dismissed off the last ball of the match by Afghanistan seamer Dawlat Zadran.

It was a controversial finish of the match as Zadran was allowed to bowl the final over despite having sent down two waist high full tosses.

Zadran finished with 3-32 off his four overs.

Jongwe was caught by Gulbadin Naib out in the deep, as Zimbabwe finished on 182 for 7 in their 20 overs.

Malcolm Waller was not out on 49 with two six sixes and two boundaries off 37 balls.

Earlier Afghanistan defeated their Zimbabwe in the ODI series 3-2 and now took the lead of two match T20 series.

It was Afghanistan second ODI series victory against Zimbabwe. In 2015, they have defeated Zimbabwe at their home soil after a thrilling final match victory at Bulawayo.

Afghanistan also has won the T20 series.

Under the coaching of former Pakistan batsman Inzamam-ul-Haq the Afghanistan cricket team have made an outstanding development. They have book their berth of ICC T20 2016 preliminary event in India.

Recently Indian government helped Afghanistan U-19 team to take the preparation of U-19 World Cup in Bangladesh. Former Indian bowler Manoj Pravakar has become their bowling coach.

The Afghanistan cricket team played first World T20 in 2010. 2016 World T20 will be their third appearance in World T20. The senior team will also play their first international in India.
