County Club Yorkshire Interested in Signing AB de Villiers

Yorkshire, the English county club is keen to sign ex-South African international cricketer AB de Villiers. The veteran cricketer had shaken the cricket fraternity by declaring retirement from all forms of international cricket, last month (May).
De Villiers pronounced he is tired of choosing games to play for South Africa in his farewell speech.
However, he could be back into the domestic circuit as early as next season. But he did indicate he could play some Twenty20 cricket across the world.
Yorkshire’s director Martyn Moxon has approached AB de Villiers’ agent and expressed their interest in signing him.
But, the star player is currently enjoying a prolonged break and might only return back to cricket next year.
“We’d certainly be interested in signing him. It’s unclear at the minute what he wants to play; it would appear that he’s only interested in T20, so we’ll just have to assess that when the time comes,” said Yorkshire’s director of cricket Martyn Moxon in a release.
“I spoke to his agent just to find out what his plans were, and he said, ‘Well, he’s not going to do anything this year, and then he’s going to assess what he wants to do for next year in due course’,” he added.
“All we’ve done is post our interest to be kept informed of what his plans are,” Moxon further added.
Moxon was quite clear to avoid any confusion. He clearly stated that the club is only trying to sign him and expressed a concrete interest.
The club is further determined to do well in T20 cricket and thinks AB de Villiers will be a perfect fit.
“Look, it’s early days. There would be a lot of competition for him, but I think that when someone of his quality becomes available you have to be interested and kept up to date with what his thinking is,” Moxon said.
“He has so many qualities – not just as a player, but the experience that he would add to the dressing room, too,” he stated.
“Ideally with overseas players you’re looking not only for good individual performances. But also for the value that they can give to the dressing room in assisting young players in particular. And he ticks all those boxes ten times over,” he maintained.
AB de Villiers Still Resting After IPL:
Just a day after Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 ended, the cricketing world was taken back with de Villiers’ decision to retire from all forms of international cricket.
The 34-year-old de Villiers is undoubtedly one of the finest cricketers in the modern era. Subsequently, he left a mark on the game with his innovative skills.
However, after his emotional video declaring retirement, de Villiers is primarily enjoying his time with his family.
But his participation overseas is still a question as the player only promised to play for his home side Titans.
