The Caribbean Premier League has reached the business end of the tournament and the league toppers Trinbago Knight Riders have suffered a huge blow with the ouster of their star opening batsman Brendon McCullum. McCullum, due to a broken arm, is ruled out of the tournament. McCullum got struck by a Wayne Parnell’s delivery in the last match. Trinbago have roped in Dan Christian as McCullum’s replacement.
However, William Perkins will replace McCullum in the playoff against St. Kitts Patriots on Tuesday. The hard hitting right handed batsman is the exact replacement the Knight Riders would be hoping. Australian Dan Christian flew into the country on Monday but will not be available for the playoff against St. Kitts Patriots. Dan Christian is an experienced player. He led Nottinghamshire to NatWest T20 Blast glory last week. Dan Christian has the experience of playing in various T20 leagues around the world.
Dan Christian has played 19 One Day Internationals for the Australian team. His experience will provide depth to the Trinbago’s line up. TKR’s Coach Simon Katich:
“Losing an iconic figure like Brendon to injury is clearly a massive loss to the team, but in Daniel we have a proven match-winner who has just led a side to a T20 title in England. We hope that he can make it two trophies in two weeks with us in Trinidad.”
According to their captain, Dwayne Bravo said he is looking forward for the match against Patriots. He said:
“We have been playing good cricket all the while and we want to continue that. Our preparation will remain the same going into this match as all the rest before and we are looking forward to continuing the good work.”
