Chennai Super Kings has won the title of the Indian Premier League twice till now, but it’s appeared that the spirit level of them has fallen off a bit as the side has been surrounded by the controversies since last season.

And it all started from the moment when the former CSK team official Gurunath Meiyappan has been brought under indictment of betting and sharing insider information about his own team. Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has also been held for questioning with regard to betting outrage and that left the fate of the team under uncertainty regarding to be allowed for the tournament. However, the team can participate in the competition.

Suresh Raina, the star player of the side, still believes that the team will play well in this edition and the team has already begun preparing their onslaught on the latest season of the cash-rich Twenty20 tournament.

Suresh Raina, who has always been a cardinal player of the side since its inaugural version, has thumped 2802 runs from 99 matches, which is the most in the statistics of IPL. He took the responsibility to put forward front for the team, which has qualified five times for the final of the competition. He has opted for facing all the problems and handled the situation with a straight bat.

“We are professionals and will not go along with any strain to impinge our performance. The first five games can be intensely crucial in the IPL to amplify a winning impetus and that’s what we will aim attention at.” Raina said, in an interview with NDTV.

Conventionally, Chennai have been slow off the hindrance in near to every season of the IPL and this time, when the cloudburst of betting and match-fixing outrage has stormed upon the IPL, their trouble has been hiked up exponentially.

The 27-year-old Suresh Raina, withal, has kept up the same positive attitude, thus his natural aggression, in order to sweep aside the reversal of the fortune. This left-handed batter seems pretty optimistic as his seniors are sustained in the core of the team till now, i.e. MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin and Raina himself and at the same time the squad utilized their “Right to Match’ card to in order to retrieve Faf du Plessis and sucked in the dashing Brendon McCullum.

“There are quite a few new players, but we have a much stabilized outfit. The insertion of Brendon McCullum has been a big positive, along with the likes of Faf Du Plessis, Dwayne Smith, myself and of course, the leadership of Dhoni.” Raina stated.

Chennai Super Kings have always been known for their strong spin attack over the years, brought on sensibly by Ashwin, in conjunction with Jadeja on the slow MA Chidambaram pitches.

At the same time, this year the Caribbean leg spinner Samuel Badree has been incorporated to the squad too. He has shown his mighty expertness in the just finished ICC World Twenty20, getting the hang of 11 wickets in five games. However, he seems satisfied with the options at the relinquishment of the team, he stated, “We have a very mighty leg spinner like Samuel Badree too, who will contribute formidable variations to our spin attack.”

Chennai Super Kings are going to start their IPL campaign against Kings XI Punjab on April 18 in Abu Dhabi. And one more thing for sure that the players will be put under the scanner in all respects of the completion and it will also be a test of their characteristics.
