Danish Kaneria Calls Virat Kohli A Liability, Asks Him To Give Up His Place In T20I Team

Virat Kohli’s poor form with the bat continued on Saturday as he failed to deliver during the second T20I between Team India and England at Edgbaston, Birmingham.

Hopes were sky high from Virat Kohli when he was named in the playing eleven for the second T20I against England. The former India skipper was returning to the T20I team after more than four months.

The fans were expecting that a change in format would change Kohli’s fortunes. Earlier this month, the right-handed batsman had a poor outing in the one-off Test against England as he managed to score only 11 and 20.

And Kohli’s poor form continued in T20Is too as he failed to make a mark on his comeback. The batting superstar was out for just 1 off 3 balls, losing his wicket after playing a horrendous shot.

Danish Kaneria on Virat Kohli’s poor form:

With Virat Kohli failing with the bat once again, former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has severely criticised him. Kaneria went as far as saying that Kohli is becoming a liability to the team.

The outspoken former cricketer said that the India batting superstar either needs to find his form or make way for a younger batsman ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup.

“When the big guns were out, even then the team was performing, the youngsters were doing the job. The big player should understand that he is becoming a liability to the team.

“Virat Kohli has become a liability now. So, either he needs to give up his place or make a comeback before the T20 World Cup,” Kaneria said while speaking on his YouTube channel.

Meanwhile, India thrashed England by 49 runs in the second T20I to take an unassailable lead in the three-match series. Earlier, the visitors had won the first game by 50 runs.

Asked to bat first, India scored 170 for 8 in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, England were all out for 121. India will be looking to sweep the series when they lock horns against England in the third T20I on Sunday (July 10).
