Darren Lehmann, Head Coach of Australia, will continue to coach Australia as James Sutherland confirmed that he had no role to play in the ‘Sandpaper Gate’.
Sutherland, during the press conference, confirmed that only three players viz David Warner, Steven Smith and Cameron Bancroft were in known of things.
All the three players have been charged under. 2.3.5 in CA Code. Of Conduct “conduct contrary to the spirit of the game”.
A decision over their punishment will be announced in next 24 hours, Sutherland revealed.
It has also been confirmed that all the three players will fly back home in next 24 hours, which also rules out Warner and Bancroft from the fourth Test match.
Smith was already banned and was out of the final game.
Talking of Lehmann in particular, there were reports that he had already tendered his resignation.
In fact, he wanted to talk to make it public but couldn’t do so.
There were already talks about Ponting and Gillespie being considered for the coaching post but now, he has been cleared of all charges and will continue his job until Ashes 2019.
Smith had also confirmed that the coaching staff had no role to play in Sandpaper Gate.
Though, Lehmann was the one who sent out a message to Peter Handscomb to inform Bancroft about his activities coming under the scanner.
It was the only after that Bancroft tried to hide the sandpaper in his pants and was caught.
With Sutherland confirming that no coach had a role to play in it, it also means that David Saker will also continue his job as fast bowling coach.
The new coaching panel will only take over after the conclusion of Ashes 2019.
