In a major turn of events, Darren Sammy, on Monday, revealed that he was racially abused in the Indian Premier League. Sammy recently revealed that he and Thisara Perera were called ‘Kalu’ when they were part of the Indian Premier League. Kalu, a Hindi word, means a black person in English.
The former West Indies captain posted a video on his Instagram account on Monday, in which he further revealed that some of his teammates called him by that name. Now, it has been revealed as to which cricketer racially abused Darren Sammy in the Indian Premier League.
Sammy also revealed how he learnt the meaning of the word after watching a show by Indian-American comedian Hasan Minhaj.

Drastically, it is none other than the Indian pacer, Ishant Sharma, who’s old social media post suggests that he was among the players who racially abused Darren Sammy.

Sammy Has Been Vocal Against Racism
Sammy has been vocal about racism following the killing of George Floyd in the USA. Earlier, the West Indian had urged the International Cricket Council (ICC) and other cricket boards across the globe to support the fight against racism.
Now, as the entire world goes against racism, it is a high time that Indian cricketers also learn from the turn of events and refrain from being a part of it.
