On Saturday, the Kolkata Knight Riders’ franchise has announced that the former Australian cricketer David Hussey and New Zealand’s Kyle Mills joining the franchise for IPL 2020. Hussey will be the chief mentor of the team while Kyle Mills will be the bowling coach for the next years, who will have his compatriot Brendon McCullum in the ranks.
KKR stated that both Hussey and Mills will work closely with former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum, who was recently named head coach of the franchise. The development was revealed out after Kolkata Knight Riders took to their Twitter account to announce the news.
David Hussey has previously represented Kolkata Knight Riders from 2008 to 2010 in IPL. It was when he was in prime form with the bat and also got the bowling skills that match the shorter format of the game. However, a decade after, he is once again reaching the same franchise in a new role.
Apart from playing for KKR, Hussey has also played for Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab in the IPL. In 267 T20s, Hussey has scored 6,097 runs at an average of 30.03 and a strike rate of 133.20 including one century and 31 half-centuries.
Speaking of the new joining, Venky Mysore of KKR quoted that the experience of David Hussey and Kyle Mills will help the team in numerous ways in the upcoming season. Further, he went on to add saying that the duo will make KKR camp a much world-class than the previous.
