David Warner, the Australian opening batsman has been ruled out of the ODI series against England. During the 2nd ODI match between Australia and England, David Warner was hit by a bouncer of Steven Finn, after which Warner left the field and didn’t come to bat again in the match. It was the first ball that Warner faced in this match and fractured his thumb. Aaron Finch has been named as replacement for David Warner.

Earlier the team intended to send Warner to bat if need arises, but after the partnership between Smith and Bailey gave a good platform to the Australian batting, the team decided against it.

Finch is already present in England for his county duties with Yorkshire. Earlier Finch was not picked in the squad as the selectors were unsure of his fitness. Warner will move along with the team to Manchester, but will fly back home from there.

Australia are scheduled to play against Bangladesh next, with their tour starting from 3rd October with a 3-day tour match. The 1st Test match will start from 9th of October and Warner will have to prove his fitness to be picked for the tour. Else, Australia will have to pick two new openers for the tour, given Chris Rogers has already retired from the game.

If Warner misses the Bangladesh tour, it will be the first incident of Warner missing a Test match after his debut, apart from the two Test matches which he missed in the Ashes of 2013 after he was suspended for 2 match before the start of the tour.
