On this day in November 2013, one of the greatest batsman ever to have graced the game, Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, stepped foot on the cricketing field for one last time against West Indies at Mumbai.
Having played for around 24 years, in 200 Test matches, and scoring more than 15,000 runs in a white jersey, the little master finally shed curtains on his illustrious career.
In the 3rd match of the Test series, Sachin after scoring 74 in the first innings, nicked one to Darren Sammy in the slips, as he walks past the silent crowd at the Wankhede Stadium, making it his last walk towards the dressing room in the International cricket. India couldn’t bat second as the host won the match by an innings and 126 runs.
However, it wasn’t the scorecard or the match result which everyone was talking about, but it was something else, something which brought people on their feet, it was Sachin Tendulkar’s farewell speech.
Unfolding his awe-inspiring journey in his own words, Sachin thanked everyone who stood alongside him throughout and also spoke about few of his best moments he has ever had on a cricketing field. Along with this, he had much more to offer. If you have missed it, relive now.
