DC vs KKR highlights: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), on Wednesday (April 3), thrashed Delhi Capitals (DC) by 106 runs to register their third win in a row in the ongoing IPL 2024. Set an improbable target of 273, DC were bowled out for 166 in the 18th over.

DC started their chase in a disastrous fashion as they lost four wickets inside the powerplay. Prithvi Shaw was the first to depart after being dismissed for 10 by Vaibhav Arora in the second over. In the third over, Mitchell Starc dismissed his compatriot Mitchell Marsh for a duck to pick his first wicket in IPL 2024.

One run later, Arora struck again to dismiss Abishek Porel for a duck as well before Starc castled Warner for 18 in the fifth over to leave DC reeling at 33 for 4. Captain Rishabh Pant and Tristan Stubbs hit half-centuries to help their team avoid further embarrassment and finish their innings on a respectable total of 166.

Pant scored 55 while Stubbs scored 54. Apart from them, no other DC batter could even touch the 20-run mark. For KKR, Arora and Varun Chakravarthy picked up three wickets each while Starc claimed two wickets.

Earlier in the game, Shreyas Iyer’s decision to bat first after winning the toss turned out to be spot on as KKR posted 272/7, their highest-ever IPL total.

Sunil Narine and Phil Salt gave KKR another flying start by adding 60 runs for the first wicket in less than 5 overs. Anrich Nortje broke the stand when he dismissed Salt for 18. The breakthrough, however, did not bring any respite for DC as Narine continued his onslaught and 18-year old debutant Angkrish Raghuvanshi also hit the ground running.

At the end of the powerplay, KKR were on 88 for 1. In the sixth over, Narine also completed his fifty off just 21 balls. By the time the tenth over ended, KKR had raced away to 135 for 1. DC finally had their second wicket in the 13th over when Mitchell Marsh dismissed Narine. The KKR opener departed after scoring 85 off just 39 balls.

In the same over, Raghuvanshi completed his fifty off 25 balls before being dismissed by Nortje for 54 in the 14th over. Andre Russell’s 41-run knock off 19 balls kept KKR on track for a 250-plus total. Rinku Singh then provided the finishing touch by smashing 26 off just 8 balls.
