ToggleThe wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant is all around the news because of his degrading batting performances. Deep Dasgupta is also not happy with the performance of the 21-year-old. He chose Wriddhiman Saha above Rishabh Pant for the coming Test against South Africa.
Rishabh has been given more chances but the player’s performance has been going down. He has played most T20I since last year but has given an embarrassing performance. The player has shown the capability of wicketkeeper but not of batsman which India needs. Indian team is currently facing the middle-order problem and for that reason, the team management is giving chances to the young players.

Deep Dasgupta gave the reason why he prefered Wriddhiman Saha over Rishabh Pant in Test
Deep Dasgupta is going with Shah if he has to make the choice between Rishabh and Shah. He also labelled Shah as the best wicket-keeper of the present time. He also gave his logic of selection as he said that if we compared that with the Rishabh’s West Indies performance than Shah should be given chance.
“Post his recovery from injury, Wriddhi has delivered and done whatever one has asked of him. There is no shadow of a doubt that he is the best wicketkeeper in the world at present. The only question was whether Wriddhi was a good enough batsman, especially when the team is looking to play five bowlers,” Dasgupta was quoted as saying in The Telegraph.
“Yes, one may ask if Wriddhi is a better batsman than Rishabh… Well, maybe not. Then the question arises that in this format, do you prefer a better keeper or a better batsman? But going by what I saw of Rishabh in the West Indies as far as his keeping is concerned and what’s expected at home in the coming Tests, I would go with Wriddhi,” he added
Against West Indies in two-match Test series, Rishabh Pant scored 58 runs. His contribution in the match is also less. The player is under pressure because of which he is not able to show his ability. The three-match Test match series against South Africa will start from 2 October in Vishakhapatnam.
