Delhi’s Jonty Sidhu will be leading the 15-member squad in the two youth Test matches against England Under 19. Sidhu, a Delhi batsman, scored a total of 268 runs in the Cooch Behar Trophy 2016/17, presenting his case for the India Under 19 side.
Kanishk Seth, who have earlier played for India under 19 in the year 2015 has made a comeback to the side after a period of two years.
Ironically, Abhishek Sharma, the skipper of India under 19 team in ODI series is not a part of the squad. Prthiwi Shaw’s exclusion from the Test squad also came as a surprise.
The 19-year-old youngster made his Ranji Trophy debut for Mumbai this year and played an innings 120 in the second innings of the semi-final against Tamil Nadu to lead the team to a win. Himanshu Rana’s exclusion from the side also comes as a surprise. The selectors have picked up a totally different side from the one selected for the ODIs.
Both the Test matches will be played at VCA stadium in Nagpur from January 13 and 21 respectively.
