He was one of the players on the standby list and would have replaced a pacer had anyone got injured. He has been making waves in domestic circuit since 2017 and a call-up to him will not come as a surprise.
He is already in West Indies as a part of the one-day squad in the ongoing unofficial one-day series between India A and West Indies A.

Saini is also expected to be part of Test squad but he faces serious competition from senior players. The likes of Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav will be making their comebacks in Test team and Saini could miss out on a place in the Test squad. As far as limited-overs cricket is concerned, he is highly likely to make his international debut in the upcoming series as well.

Apart from him, likes of Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer and Manish Pandey are highly expected to make their national comebacks. Gill was a part of the limited-overs squad for the series against New Zealand this year. He also played two ODIs, replacing Virat Kohli after he took rest.

Iyer, who made debut in 2017, is also in scheme of things and has been ignored for a long time now. Just like Gill, he should also be making his much-awaited comeback in the national side.
Manish Pandey is also one of the players who are in the scheme of things. Though he has been playing international cricket for a long time but hasn’t been given a consistent run till now.
Now when team India will start a rebuilding process for the 2023 World Cup, he is expected to be given a longer rope to prove himself.
The series will also see a comeback of Wriddhiman Saha, who should be the second wicket-keeper in the Test squad for the upcoming series.
