Deodhar Trophy 2017, 1st SF: Manish Pandey’s Ton Propel India Blue To Massive Total Against Tamil Nadu

India middle-order batsman Manish Pandey struck a brilliant century while out-of-favour opener Shikhar Dhawan scored a half-century as India Blue posted a massive score of 316 for 8 against Tamil Nadu in the first semifinal of the Deodhar Trophy.
After deciding to bat first, India Blue did not start their innings on a good note as their skipper Parthiv Patel departed after scoring just 11. But Dhawan, who had scored a fine century in India Blue’s quarterfinal win over India A on Saturday, shared an 86-run stand with Manish Pandey for the second wicket to set the tone for a good score. The partnership came to an end when the India opener was clean bowled by Sai Kishore. 10 runs later, Kishore struck again to send back Govinda Poddar for only 7 to reduce India Blue to 110 for 3.
Ishank Jaggi, who was a consistent performer for Jharkhand in the just concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy, also failed with the bat before Axar Patel joined Pandey in the middle and both added 98 runs for the fifth wicket to steady the ship. Patel scored a quickfire 51 which was studded with one boundary and 4 sixes before he became Kishore’s third victim. Pandey departed soon after completing his ton but Gurkeerat Singh Mann (25) and Akshay Karnewar (28) played handy knocks to help India Blue post a mammoth total. Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore was Tamil Nadu’s most successful bowler with figures of 4 for 60 in 10 overs.
Brief score:
India Blue: 316/8 (M Pandey 104, A Patel 51, S Dhawan 50, Sai Kishore 4-60)
