Shikhar Dhawan continued his good run of form in the ICC World Cup 2015 as his magnificent y hundred helped India seal the deal against Ireland by 8 wickets at Hamilton. This was India’s fifth straight win in the tournament and it also assured that they would top the Pool B going into the quarter-finals.

Chasing a target of 260, India got off to a flying start as their openers Rohit Sharma and Dhawan put on a record 174-run stand for the first wicket and that negated any chance of Ireland coming back into the match. Rohit scored 64 before losing his wicket to Stuart Thompson. This was Rohit’s second half-century of the tournament. Dhawan and Virat Kohli carried on the good work and the former also brought up his second hundred of the tournament. Dhawan scored 100 before becoming Thompson’s second victim. He hit 11 fours and 5 sixes in his blistering innings of just 85 balls. Ajinkya Rahane and Kohli then played some glorious shots to bring up India’s victory with 79 balls to spare.

India next face Zimbabwe in their last Pool B clash at Auckland on March 14th.
