Eden Gardens to roll out ‘sporting track’ for IPL final

The final of the IPL-8 will be played tomorrow at Eden gardens, Kolkata between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. The fact that Kolkata Knight Riders have failed to reach the finals and the playoffs too will have a huge impact on not only the stadium environment but also on the pitch.

The stadium has already been replaced by the IPL banners, which earlier saw KKR’s promotional stuffs there. The pitch is expected to be a lot sporting unlike what it is generally in KKR’s home matches. Though, KKR this season opted for sporting pitches in the initial 2 matches but then saw the same old strategy.

The plan for KKR was simple, to play more and more spinners on a low and turning track and fox the opposition with spin. But the finals will not see the ball gripping the surface a lot and this will mean that it won’t support the spinners as much. With the match being 8pm starter, the heat won’t come into play.

But the attendance of the match will not be affected by the fact that KKR has not reached the finals. The match is expected to be a full house and almost all the tickets have been sold by now.
