ENG vs IND 2018: MS Dhoni Took the Ball to Show it to Bowling Coach – Ravi Shastri

Team India head coach, Ravi Shastri said MS Dhoni took the ball to show it to bowling coach. Dhoni had asked for the match ball from Michael Gough after the completion of the decider between England and India after the Leeds ODI.

However, it led to the rumours that MS Dhoni is contemplating retirement and he asked for the ball, as the last souvenir. Nevertheless, Shastri cleared the air on it and said Dhoni isn’t going anywhere.

Dhoni is not going anywhere, clarifies Ravi Shastri.

Shastri said Dhoni wanted bowling coach to have a look at the wear and tear of the ball. Therefore, he wanted the bowling to gauge the conditions.

“MS wanted to show the ball to Bharat Arun. He wanted to show him the wear and tear the ball had endured, to get a general idea of what the conditions were like,” Shastri clarified to TOI.

Shastri also called all the rumours as ‘rubbish’ which had spread on the social media like a wildfire.  Therefore, Shastri was able to act as a fire brigade to all the unwanted speculations. “That’s rubbish. MS is not going anywhere,” Shastri confirmed.

Dhoni had failed to rotate the strike in the initial stages of his innings. Thus, the pressure had built upon him on the UK tour. Furthermore, many people believe Dhoni should call it a day, as he is not contributing to the team’s success as a batsman.

“But right now, all this clamour is nonsense. He just wanted to show the ball to Arun to just have a look at it after close to 45 overs had been bowled,” he said.

MS Dhoni is not someone who will hang around for too long if he is not contributing to the team. He knows his game, and he has taken the best decisions for the Indian cricket.

In fact, MS Dhoni must be having his plans for the future, and he is expected to play till the next World Cup in England and Wales.
